Edgewater Marina repairs continue

(Cleveland) - Edgewater Marina was severely damaged by Superstorm Sandy in 2012, and work is underway to get it reopened by this Memorial Day.

Critics are concerned about the brand new floating aluminum docks which are being installed, charging that they aren't durable and could be a disaster waiting to happen.

Bethany McCorkle of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources disagrees.

She contends the floating docks were recommended by their consultant, and are state-of-the-art, with full water and electrical access.

When asked if the new docks could withstand another Superstorm Sandy, McCorkle maintained that Sandy was likely a once in a lifetime event.

In addition to damaging the docks and the breakwall at the marina, Sandy also sank more than 30 boats in October of 2012.

Repairs are being made with the help of some FEMA funding. McCorkle says work was delayed by bad weather during the winter.
