(Cleveland) - The Cleveland Indians have given former closer Chris Perez his unconditional release.

Perez finished a dissappointing 2013 season with a 5-and-3 record and a 4.33 ERA. Opponents hit .263 off of him.

In another move, the Indians signed DH Jason Giambi to a minor league contract with a non-roster invite to the Major League camp.

The 42-year old Giambi had three pinch-hit home runs last year, the last of which propelled the Tribe to come-from-behind win that kept the Indians a game ahead in the AL Wildcard race at the time.
