A court in Spain has ordered a man to pay his ex-wife over $95K to compensate her for housework she did throughout their 26-year marriage.
The unnamed couple got hitched in 1996, and eventually separated in 2022.
Over that time, the wife only worked outside of the home for a total of 205 days and dedicated the rest of that time to “raising their only daughter and keeping the household in order.”
Because of her lack of professional work experience, her employment prospects were limited, so an earlier court ordered that she be compensated to the tune of $130K.
That decision, however, was appealed, with the husband wanting to pay less and the wife wanting even more (upwards of $200K). The appeals court later settled on the $95K figure.
