Daily Showers Aren’t Necessary For Everyone

Someone decided to restart the shower debate.

Environmentalist Donnachadh McCarthy told the BBC “Why are we washing? Mostly because we’re afraid somebody else will tell us that we’re smelling.”

Manhattan dermatologist Dr. Julie Russak agrees that daily showers are not needed.

She notes that prolonged and daily showers could strip away the “skin’s microbiome,” which plays a role in protecting the skin and is “also extremely important in overall health of the body.”

It turns out, according to experts, that we shower daily due to societal perception.

Seattle dermatologist Joyce Park says to shower based on what your body and hair tell you.

If you have dry skin or eczema, then less frequent showers are important.

After a workout, only focus on washing high-sweat areas.
