Browns will have to overcome injuries to beat Chargers

The Browns have wrapped up their work this week as they have prepared to face the San Diego Chargers Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Here are a few notes from the team’s final day of preparation.

-Trent Richardson has now practiced 3 days in a row and looked to be quick and agile during practice on Friday on a day that’s basically a glorified walk thru. The real test though will not come until Sunday afternoon when the rookie running back actually takes a hit.

Here’s Coach Shurmur’s thoughts on Richardson’s availability, “I think today was his third good day of practice. He’s better this Friday than he was last. I can’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen Sunday, but he had a good practice.”

-Defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin (calf) missed practice again today and most likely will miss Sunday’s game as the Browns will have to rely on their rookie combination of John Hughes and Billy Winn.

When Shurmur was asked about Rubin’s availability here is what he had to say, I don’t know what his status will be yet for this week. I wouldn’t say he aggravated it. We’ll just have to see if he’s ready to go.

It’s the same, the calf, lower leg or whatever.” My guess here is that we don’t see Rubin for a few weeks.

-Dimitri Patterson missed practice again as he is dealing with an ankle injury. It’s expected that Patterson will miss his 3rd game in a row with that ankle injury.

-Left Guard Jason Pinkston who has been placed on the teams IR with a blood clot in his lung, watched practice from the field today.

Pinkston seemed to be in a good mood as he followed his teammates through the practice session. Pinkston was hospitalized on Oct 18th and released on Wednesday.
