System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian is making it clear that the band doesn't have a new album in the works.
Rumors to the contrary began after drummer John Dolmayan announced during the band's Monday night show at the Hollywood Bowl that they would have a new album by the time they returned to the venue. But on Wednesday, Tankian clarified that he and his bandmates "have not yet agreed on a timetable for another record due to its time commitments."
Tankian added that they appreciate the fact that fans are eagerly waiting the band's follow-up to 2005's double album "Mesmerize/Hypnotize." But he says they have to make a record when they think it's time, not when others think would be the time.
System of a Down will be following their one-off L.A. show with an appearance at a Russian festival next Wednesday. There are so far no plans to play another U.S. show this year.
