(GLENDALE, Ariz.) – The Cleveland Indians welcomed Asdrubal Cabrera back with open arms on Wednesday afternoon following their 5-2 win over the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch in a Cactus League exhibition game.

Just one day after the two-time All-Star shortstop returned from the World Baseball Classic he delivered a double that drove in two runs during the third inning. Cabrera had left spring camp for over a week to represent his native Venezuela in the WBC.

The Indians received another solid outing from right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez who pitched five innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out three and walking just one. Jimenez is expected to be the Tribe’s No. 2 starter behind ace hurler Justin Masterson.

Cord Phelps also had two RBIs belting a two-run homer to center field in the 7th inning. Indians relievers Matt Albers, Bryan Shaw and Nick Hagadone combined for three scoreless innings of work against the White Sox.

The Indians are now 12-6-1 in Cactus League play. The Tribe returns to spring exhibition action on Thursday at Goodyear Ballpark when they host the Kansas City Royals.
