-Trent Richardson missed practice with a sore left knee that Coach Shurmur said will reevaluate the knee after practice. It’s the same left knee that Richardson had cleaned out earlier this year. No idea how serious it is but he walked without a limp and also rode the bike during certain parts of the practice.
Coach Shurmur still isn’t sure if Richardson will play Friday in Detroit “it might affect Friday, so I don’t know. We’ll have to see. We’re going to evaluate him further here. There’s a chance he won’t play on Friday.”
-Evan Moore who is listed as the teams 4th tight end refused to get caught up in the numbers game today as he said he is just focusing on becoming a better player.
He also thought it was a positive that the team’s starting quarterback has been named because it’s just one less distraction for the team.
-Rookie cornerback Trevin Wade has made quite an impression the past two days in camp as he has picked off passes on consecutive days; Coach Shurmur is looking forward to watching the corner play during the preseason “Yeah, he actually stood out to me in the offseason. He’s carried through and had a good camp. The games will be important for him as well.”
-Colt McCoy was obviously an aggravated quarterback after finding out he was not the number one quarterback and it seems that Coach Shumur understands those feelings“I think you’re talking to a guy that’s a competitor, that’s disappointed that he’s not the starter. I don’t tell him what to say and he has feelings that he expressed to you.
I would say this, all the quarterbacks have had an opportunity to show us what they can do and we made a decision on who the starter is.”
-Family Night is now the next hurdle for the Browns as the team will practice in shells starting at 7:00 pm. The team will not go live but Shurmur plans on making it exciting “It’s a normal practice. My concern about doing too much physical now is we’re pressed up toward that preseason game here on Friday.
It’ll be a Cleveland Browns experience for the fans. Then there are certain things we need to get done in practice, we’ll do some red zone, we’ll move the ball, we’ll do some kicking. I think it’ll be a fun night. If I wasn’t involved with this team, it would be something I’d come watch.”
