The Browns will look to break its 12 game road losing streak this weekend in Oakland. Here are a few notes from the day out in Berea.

 -The first question for everyone was what’s up with Brandon Weeden who left the teams contest vs. Pittsburgh with a concussion. And Coach Shurmur addressed his situation immediately,

“A couple business items, you saw D’Qwell Jackson was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. It’s a great honor for him. I’ve said all along what he means to our defense.

He obviously had a great week. Our fourth captain will be Juqua Parker. I’m sure you’re all interested as to what’s going on with the quarterback. He was cleared to practice. He participated in the meetings. He participated in the walk-through and he’ll do everything in practice today, and we’ll get him ready to start on Sunday.

If there are some unforeseen setbacks, then of course Colt (McCoy) will start. As we’re moving forward right now, he’s cleared to practice and we’re moving ahead with Brandon (Weeden).”

-He also addressed LB D’Qwell Jackson winning AFC Defensive player of the week award, I really believe, I think I said it, like baseball you’ve got to be strong up the middle. Your middle linebacker, you’ve got to get good play from your safeties.

The guys in the middle of the defense tend to do most of the communicating, and getting everybody lined up. He obviously does that extremely well for us. I just see the way he functions in the building. I see the way he functions in the locker room, and I’ve seen him be a good leader for our guys. I think that’s important as well.”

-Jackson loved winning the award but first he wanted to make sure that he let people know what was most important to him, “(What was) Most important was getting a win against a rival and for the city of Cleveland.

They deserved it. I know it has been a rocky year for everybody. To get a win makes it a little bit better, but it was great for the community and great for the young guys in this locker room to get a win against a rival like Pittsburgh.”

-Brandon Weeden said this was his first concussion and he addressed what it was like to face the Steelers for the first time, “I think just growing up looking at the Pittsburgh Steelers; the first thing I think about is the defense. To be the quarterback going against that defense, I knew it was going to be a challenge. You can’t get overwhelmed in the moment.

 You’ve got to kind of stay the course. They are a great defense and very well coached. You can’t let it be bigger than the stage you’re already on. I understood the rivalry. I understand the passion with our fans and their fans, and a rivalry that’s kind of become what it is. I was really more than anything more excited to play them.”

 -The other question Weeden was asked was what the Browns must do to win two in a row? “I think finish and play well in the fourth quarter. As a team, I think collectively we found a way to finish against the Steelers. We weren’t able to do that against Dallas, we weren’t able to do that early against Baltimore.

There were times we’ve been close and we weren’t able to finish. I think when it comes crunch time late in the game (and) it’s (the) fourth quarter, just do like we did on Sunday and find a way to finish. However we do it, whether it’s pretty or ugly. There’s not ugly wins. I feel like a win, is a win, is a win, is a win and that’s the way I personally look at it.”
