(Cleveland) – The Horseshoe Casino Cleveland got a Christmas present of its own, as monthly revenue for the downtown casino in December jumped sharply compared with November.
Figures released Monday by the Ohio Casino Control Commission say Horseshoe posted an adjusted gross revenue of $24.5 million in December, up 19.7 percent from November. It’s also the second highest month’s revenue since the casino opened in May. In June, the first full month of operation, the Horseshoe casino took in $26.1 million after winnings were paid out.
Toledo’s Hollywood Casino posted only a 4.3 percent increase in revenue, and revenue numbers at the Hollywood Casino in Columbus were down 11 percent from the month before.
The Cleveland casino used local history to promote itself during December, running a “Holidays at the Higbee” promotion. The casino, which is housed in the former Higbee’s department store building, brought out decorations similar to ones that graced the department store for many years.
