Police looking for a black van with front end damage.
(Cleveland) - A $7,000 reward is being offered by the family of 81-year-old Maxine Lobins along with crimestoppers to find the person responsible for the woman's death.
Cleveland Police are looking for a black van suspected of fatally striking an elderly pedestrian Wednesday.
On January 9 at approximately 7:53 a.m., First District zone cars responded to 17407 Lorain Avenue (near Rocky River Drive) and located the unresponsive victim lying in the roadway. EMS was notified, responded to the scene and took the victim to Fairview Hospital, where 81-year-old Maxine Lobins was pronounced dead on arrival.
Due to the fatality, the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit was notified and investigating.
The preliminary investigation reveals that Lobins was walking on the side of the roadway using a walker. Police say she tried to cross in the crosswalk and was struck by a black van that was operating eastbound on Lorain Avenue.
After hitting the victim, the operator of the black van did not stop and continued eastbound on Lorain Avenue. Police think the van has damage to front end.
