Greater Cleveland will be the backdrop for exterior scenes.
(Cleveland) - Marvel Studios is coming back to Ohio for the filming of its next Captain America movie.
Ivan Schwartz of The Greater Cleveland Film Commission says outdoor portions of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will begin filming around Northeast Ohio this spring or summer.
Schwartz tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 about 200 local crewmembers are likely to be hired, and maybe a 100 or so extras. Location planning is expected to begin within the next few weeks.
The film will be a sequel to Marvel’s 2012 blockbuster “The Avengers,” which also filmed in locations around the state.
The new film stars Chris Evans along with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson. It will be directed by brothers and Cleveland natives Anthony and Joe Russo. Release is set for April 2014.
