Debe Terhar shared a post on Facebook featuring Hitler.

(Columbus) - A posting on Facebook has Democrats calling for the resignation or removal of the state's school board president, Debe Terhar.

The posting features a photo of Adolf Hitler and a quote - "To conquer a nation first disarm its citizens."

The rumor-investigating website Snopes.com says there is no source saying the Nazi dictator literally said those words.

Terhar shared the post from the Facebook page of "Uncle Sam's Misguided Children" which claims to offer "daily news articles, exclusive pictures & videos of military, guns, freedoms and liberties secured by our Constitution and Bill of Rights." It also has a warning that the site is for those 18 years of age and older and "unlike us if you are easily offended."

"In the past Gov. Kasich has called for more civility in the political debate and now he has a prime opportunity to back up those words with action," said Ohio Democratic Party spokesman Jerid Kurtz.

He says they'll keep up the pressure on Kasich and Terhar unless there's a full formal apology from the state school board president. Kurtz says they're also requesting to see if Terhar has made similar postings in the past.

A check of Terhar's Facebook page finds that it appears to have been deleted. Multiple calls to Terhar and Gov. Kasich's office have not been returned.

Terhar released a statement saying she regrets carelessly sharing the picture and plans to be more careful using social media in the future.
