I-90 re-opened during afternoon rush at SR 44

(Lake County) - The Highway Patrol re-opened I-90 westbound at SR 44, around 5 p.m., but the area was closed for hours, Wednesday afternoon, due to multiple accidents involving tractor trailers. 

The eastbound lanes were closed for quite a few hours, as well.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office says nine vehicles, including four semis, were involved with multiple injuries. It happened between Vrooman Rd. and 44 westbound, at the Grand River over-pass. 

The Sheriff's Office has abeen dvising everyone of hazardous road conditions, especially on the eastside of Lake County.

At one point, they were handling five accidents of Interstate 90 with the assistance of the Geauga County Sheriff and OSP.


Shelly called "The Mike Trivisonno" show and talked about being in the crash. Her car was spared, but she saw other vehicles in various states of damage.

Motorists are advised to use caution when driving in white out conditions by reducing speed and increasing following distance.
