Father facing charges

(Akron) - A four-year-old boy has died from a gunshot Wednesday morning.  Akron police have charged his father.

48-year-old Terrance Allen is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, felony child endangering, weapons under disability and tampering with evidence, after Jamarcus Allen was found fatally shot in the head.

Akron Police Lt. Rick Edwards says they were alerted to the situation by Allen, who flagged down a Summit County Sheriff's deputy around 10:00 a.m.

Allen told police his four-year-old son had been shot. The deputy located the child's body inside of a Ford Taurus. There was a bullet hole in the roof of the car, and the officer recovered a handgun.

The child was transported to Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He's been identified by the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office as Jamarcus Allen from McKinley Avenue in Akron.

The deputy was flagged down at Davies and South Arlington. No further details have been released.

An autopsy will be conducted Thursday.

Allen is being held in the Summit County Jail.
