Cleveland's Jay Westbrook will not seek re-election
(Cleveland) - Cleveland City Councilman Jay Wesbrook has decided to retire. The 66-year old Westbrook has served Cleveland's "mid-west" side for more than thirty years.
His ward encompasses the Denison, West Boulevard, Cudell and Edgewater neighbrohoods. The veteran office holder has decided against seeking another term in council in November.
He was first sworn in as a member of the body in 1980 and has been re-elected nine times. Westbrook also served as president of council from 1990 to 1999.
During his time on council, Westbrook worked alongside the likes of current mayor Frank Jackson and former mayors Mike White, George Voinovich, and Jane Campbell.
