Hospital hoping to reduce appointment no-shows.

(Cleveland) - Beginning this spring, MetroHealth Medical Center will use text messages to remind patients of upcoming appointments.

Hospital administrators believe it will be easier to get the attention of younger patients with texting, than with phone calls, and emails.

MetroHealth is trying to reduce the number of appointment no-shows, usually young or low-income patients, who get behind on their vaccinations.

Patients will be able to opt-out of text messaging if they so desire.
