Arrest in teen girl's murder in Cleveland

Both the suspect and victim are 16-years-old.

(Cleveland) - Cleveland Police have arrested a 16-year-old Hispanic male in connection with an overnight murder.

The suspect was known to the 16-year-old victim. He was taken into custody without incident in the 3400 block of W. 88th Street Friday morning.

Police say 16-year-old Jennifer Zacarias was gunned down just after midnight at 3611 West 102nd Street near Jasper Avenue. 

At 12:12 a.m., Police Dispatch received a call for a female shot. Zacarias had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. EMS was notified, responded to the scene and took her to MetroHealth Medical Center where she died.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the Jennifer's father heard multiple gunshots outside. He than checked on his daughter and found that she was not in her room. He then went outside to check for his daughter and found Jennifer in the backyard.
