Hundreds of new jobs coming to Brook Park plant.

(Brook Park) - It's now official...Ford's is new, 2-litre, four cylinder EcoBoost engine will be built at the Brook Park plant.

Ford's Joe Hinrichs poses with EcoBoost engine at Brook Park Plant.

Joe Hinrichs, Ford's President of the Americas says their $200 million investment means 450 additional jobs at Brook Park. Production of the 2.0 liter Ecoboost for North America starts at the Brook Park Plant in late 2014.

This was made possible when workers at Ford in Brook Park have approved a new contract Monday. Hinrichs also credits auto industry restructuring, and the assistance of the State of Ohio and local governments.

Hinrichs says Ford is now more than halfway to its goal of creating more than 12,000 hourly jobs in the U.S. by 2015.

UAW Local 1040 President Mike Gamella.

Ford is moving production from Valencia, Spain, to northeast Ohio, however, no jobs are being lost at the Spanish facility which will continue to make engines for the European market.

EcoBoost engines have turbochargers, which give them more power when needed. The engines are becoming popular because they get better gas mileage than larger motors.
