Spectrum will begin training later this month.
(Stow) - The Stow Police Department is adding a third K-9 Unit to increase the number of K-9 units to three. Officer Erik Dirker and his K-9 partner, Spectrum, will be attending training in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The training will commence on March 18, 2013 and will conclude on April 6, 2013.

Once trained, Spectrum will be a full service K-9 who will be certified in drug detection, suspect apprehension and tracking. The addition of Officer Dirker and Spectrum will allow the Stow Police Department to have a K-9 Unit on each of the three patrol shifts.
The purchase and the training of Officer Dirker of Spectrum were funded by a donation from Rick Schultz of Spectrum Surgical. The Stow Police Department K-9 Units have been funded by donations from businesses and residents of the City of Stow. Anyone wishing to make a tax deductible donation to the K-9 Unit can find a donation form on the City of Stow website under the Police Department link by going to the website at stow.oh.us.
