(Columbus) - Thousands waited in line for hours, some even overnight, outside the new Cabela's store on the north side of Columbus.

"I just wanted to come check it out," said Scott McKinney who drove down from Mansfield. "Never been to a Cabela's yet. Just wanted to see what all the hype was about."

The 80,000-square-foot store is the first in Ohio.

Inside there is hunting and camping gear. There's also a large display of stuffed wildlife and an aquarium, an indoor archery range, cafe, and fudge shop.

Jeff Wheeler came from Circleville to get a hunting rifle. He said the wait for him was a couple hours.

Steve Paddock said he waited about 4 hours to get his hands on ammunition for his .22.

"Can't find it anywhere," the Johnstown man said.

He grabbed about a dozen boxes, but was told he could only get four.

"They cut me off," he laughed.

Traffic was backed up trying to exit I-71 at Gemini Place in both directions. Police were on hand trying to direct traffic.
