Hinckley Reservation celebrates 8:15 arrival of turkey vulture.

(Medina County) - There were cheers when the buzzards were spotted at the Metroparks Hinckley Reservation this morning. The first turkey vulture was seen at 8:15 by official spotter Sharon Hosko, as it flew close to the tree line to the south.

According to legend, the buzzards return to the park every March 15th. Among the 100 or so people on hand to welcome the birds was Wayne Forsythe of Cuyahoga Falls who has attended the event for 40 years.

Also arriving to the buzzards return was first timers Jim and Karen Grant from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was to celebrate Karen's 70 birth day. There were also visitors from California.

The spotting was a little bit later than last year's when the first buzzard was seen at 7:45 AM.

This Sunday, people are invited again to Buzzard's Roost for Buzzard Sunday. There'll be various activities for people of all ages, and at least one caged buzzard will be on display.
