(Akron) - A fake veterinarian in Summit County is heading to prison.
Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh says 36-year-old Brandi Tomko of Akron, was sentenced to 18 months in prison Friday.
On February 8, 2013, Judge Paul Gallagher found Tomko guilty of Identity Fraud, a felony of the fourth degree; Forgery, a felony of the fifth degree; three counts of Prohibitions Concerning Companion Animals, misdemeanors of the first degree; Practicing Veterinary Medicine without a License, a misdemeanor of the second degree; and two counts of Theft, misdemeanors of the first degree.
Tomko also pleaded guilty to Aggravated Possession of Drugs, a felony of the fifth degree, and Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
Tomko ran the C&D Animal Hospital in Akron, and held herself out as a veterinarian. She performed numerous medical procedures on cats and dogs over a four-year period.
