#GoodNews: Boy Saves Parents After Tornado Throws Truck Into Trees

After an EF-4 tornado flipped his family’s truck while they were attempting to flee the danger, nine-year-old Branson Baker ran to get help for his parents, who were severely injured. Wayne and Lindy Baker suffered multiple fractures and injuries in the April 27th event. They were trying to reach a storm shelter in Dickson, Oklahoma, as a series of deadly tornadoes descended on the area.

Somehow Branson was unharmed in the incident, which tossed their truck into a pile of broken trees. Amidst the chaos, he reassured his parents that he would bring help for them before running over a mile in the dark through downed power lines and debris to their neighbor’s house.

The Bakers were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for multiple serious injuries, including broken backs, necks, and ribs, and have a long road to recovery. To support the family during this difficult time, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched and has already raised over $22-thousand. The community has rallied around the family and are hailing Branson as a hero, recognizing him for his remarkably brave act.
